Channler Twyman (Chann) is a writer, scholar, professionally trained writing tutor, and proud Georgia native. His works have appeared both in print and online on various websites and publishers such as Shondaland, Siblini Journal, Anime Feminist, and Ohio’s Best Emerging Poets. He has received support for his upcoming works through Tin House as a YA Scholar in 2021 and most recently as a Kimbilio Fellow. He graduated from The College of Wooster in 2018 with a B.A. in English Literature as a Posse Scholar. Afterward, he held numerous positions at his alma mater as an APEX Fellow for the Center for Diversity and Inclusion supporting the institution’s marginalized student populations, and as a full-time writing center consultant helping upperclassmen with their undergraduate research projects.
Since then, he has taken on associate and editorial roles in both publishing and media with nearly a decade’s worth of experience in marketing, communications, and program management where he’s collaborated with numerous diverse writers and scholars such as Leah Johnson, Robert Jones Jr., Hanif Abdurraqib, and EbonyJanice; As well as organizations such as Meta, Spotify, and Penguin Random House. His work seeks to celebrate, highlight, and explore the interior and exterior lives of queer and Black Americans. Some of his creative and writing influences include Jesmyn Ward, Hayao Miyazaki, Mariah Carey, Jandy Nelson, Eve Ewing, Benjamin Alire Saenz, Ocean Vuong, Danez Smith, and Kelly Leeroy Gilbert. When he’s not writing, Channler enjoys serving looks, continuously updating his skincare routine, and spending way too much money at anime conventions.
